Urban regeneration work has begun in Piazza Aldo Moro in Fornoli. Thanks to €202,000 in regional funding, the area will be equipped with new parking lots, electric charging stations, and enhanced green spaces.
Fornoli: The Piazza Aldo Moro regeneration project begins.
Redevelopment work has officially begun on the Piazza Aldo Moro park in Fornoli, a hamlet of Bagni di Lucca. The project, costing a total of €202,000, was entirely funded by the Tuscany Region through the 2024 Public Parking Call.
The Project: Sustainable Mobility and New Spaces
The regeneration project aims to improve the liveability and accessibility of the village center through a series of targeted interventions:
New parking spaces: 12 car spaces, 1 motorcycle space, 1 disabled space, and 1 pink space will be created.
Electric mobility: Two charging stations for electric cars and a shelter for charging bicycles will be installed.
Urban decorum: The cleaning and enhancement of the War Memorial, the installation of three new lighting points, the resurfacing of the sidewalks and the creation of flowerbeds with seats are planned.
Attention to Public Greenery
The project was designed to preserve the existing tree population. Only two trees will be cut down for safety and traffic reasons, while three new ones will be planted in the adjacent playground. Upon completion of the construction, a general pruning will be carried out to even out the trees in the square.
Deputy Mayor Sebastiano Pacini stated that the project aims to provide the community with a safer and more functional space, while also addressing the parking shortage in a strategic residential and commercial area.
