The 2026 edition of Garfagnana Terra Unica is growing and relaunching: the Serchio Valley 's quintessential event celebrating its identity is expanding from two to three weekends. On November 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22, 2026, the Piazzale Chiappini marquee and the historic center of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana will host a six-day celebration showcasing the area's agricultural, food, wine, artisanal, and tourism products. The event—dedicated to the memory of Andrea Bertucci—is organized by the Unione Comuni Garfagnana, the Municipality of Castelnuovo, and the Garfagnana Terra Unica Association, with the crucial contribution of 42 local associations and students from the ISI Garfagnana and ISI Barga institutes.
Local street food, a tourist train, and the Garfagnana Union of Municipalities stand
The heart of the event will be Local Street Food, where 42 volunteer organizations will offer traditional dishes prepared with the finest local produce. A convenient tourist train will connect Piazzale Chiappini with the city center every 20 minutes.
At the institutional stand of the Garfagnana Union of Municipalities, visitors will find:
Publishing and biodiversity: The volumes of the Bank of Identity and Memory and the exhibition of ancient seeds and fruits at the "La Piana" Centre in Camporgiano ( Regional Germplasm Bank ).
New for 2026: A section dedicated to the Forest Fire Prevention Service (AIB), an information point for the Alert System app, and the first reception point for the Intermunicipal Civil Protection. There will also be stands for the park authorities (Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park and Apuan Alps Regional Park) and the IAT (Tourist Information Office).
Schedule of events: inauguration with Idea Pieroni, talks and activities for families
As highlighted by the President of the Union Raffaella Mariani, the extension of the program will give even more scope to the Garfagnana excellences through a packed calendar:
Inauguration (Saturday, November 7, 11:00 a.m.): Ribbon cutting in the presence of Idea spokesperson Pieroni (high jump champion) and parade of Mayors and associations.
Conferences and talks: Saturday, November 8th, a focus on the GA.TE Project with students from the Campus Foundation and a screening of the VOLVER Project for young people. Saturday, November 21st, a presentation of the urban regeneration project "Designing Together. Future Landscapes."
Attractions and workshops: Show cooking by the students of the ISI Barga, livestock exhibition, board games with Garfaludica, helicopter flights with RotorWork, a Wine Corner (21-22 November) and educational workshops for children organised by Canyonatura, Carabinieri Biodiversità and the "Lo Spaventapasseri" farm.
Historic center and visits: Shops and restaurants open, craft markets, special markets on Sundays and guided tours of the Rocca Ariostesca.
